Turn off Private Wi-Fi Address on Mac

Requires macOS Sequoia or later:

  1. Open the System Settings app, then select Network.
  2. Select the Stanford Wi-Fi network in the list on the left.
  3. Click the Details button next to the Stanford Wi-Fi network.
  4. Make sure the Private Wi-Fi Address option is turned off.
 

Turn off Private Wi-Fi Address on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple Vision Pro

Requires iOS 14, iPadOS 14, visionOS, or later:

  1. Open the Settings app, then tap Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap the i (info) button next to the Stanford Wi-Fi network.
  3. Turn off Private Address by toggling the switch to the off position.
 

Turn off MAC Randomization on Android

Requires Android 10 or later:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Select Network & Internet.
  3. Select Wi-Fi.
  4. Connect to SSID Stanford.
  5. Tap the gear icon next to the Stanford Wi-Fi network.
  6. Select Advanced.
  7. Select Privacy.
  8. Select "Use device MAC".
 

Turn off Random Hardware Addresses on Windows

Requires Windows 10 or later:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Select Network & Internet.
  3. Select Wi-Fi.
  4. Select Manage known networks.
  5. Select the Stanford Wi-Fi network.
  6. Select Properties.
  7. Under Random hardware addresses, toggle the setting to Off.
